We’ve all been there...
The screen freezes.
The printer won’t connect.
A suspicious email pops up in your inbox, and you aren't sure if you should click it. For most people, computers are essential tools, but they are also sources of endless frustration and anxiety.
After 20+ years of professional experience in IT, I realized that while technology changes, the fundamental skills users need to stay safe and efficient rarely do. I wanted to create a comprehensive, practical guide that bridges the gap between "technical jargon" and "what do I actually click?"
The Computer Handbook

What is The Computer Handbook?
The Computer Handbook is more than just a manual; it’s a survival guide for the modern digital age. It is designed to take you from the basics of setting up a new machine to the advanced strategies needed to protect your identity online.
Whether you are a complete novice who gets nervous installing updates or a tech-savvy user looking to optimize your home network, this book has something for you.
What’s Inside?
The book is broken down into six practical parts, designed to be read in order or used as a reference when things go wrong:
Part I: Computer Fundamentals: We strip away the complexity. Learn how your operating system actually works and the "right" way to set up a new computer to avoid bloatware and slowdowns from day one.
Part II: Internet Safety & Cybersecurity: The internet can be a dangerous place. I cover how to recognize modern cyber threats, choose the right security software, and exactly what to do if you get infected.
Part III: Maintenance & Care: Most computer issues are preventable. I share the professional procedures for cleaning your system, backing up data, and diagnosing hardware sounds and failures before they become catastrophes.
Part IV: Networking & Connectivity: Finally understand your home Wi-Fi, troubleshoot internet dropouts, and conquer the nemesis of every home office: the printer.
Part V & VI: Management & Optimization: From managing the dozens of passwords we all have to planning for your digital future, these sections ensure your tech works for you, not against you.
Why I Wrote This
In my two decades of fixing computers, I’ve seen the same avoidable problems cost people hundreds of dollars and countless hours of stress.
I wrote this handbook to empower you. I want to give you the confidence to troubleshoot a slow PC, the knowledge to spot a scam before it bites, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your data is backed up and secure.
Free Forever on GitHub
I am currently working hard to get physical copies printed for those who prefer having a book in their hands (stay tuned for updates on that!).
However, I believe this information should be accessible to everyone. That is why the GitHub repository for the book is (and always will be) completely free.
You don't have to wait for the print run.
You can dive in right now, read the chapters, use the checklists, and explore the appendices.

Technology shouldn't be scary!
With the right guide, it’s just another tool you can master!
